A shirt dress with the sleeves cut short
Cutsdean takes the shirt dress out of the coat weather. A pointed collar and a concealed button front keep the line uninterrupted, two flap chest pockets give the bodice its structure, and a belt cut from the same cloth ties the waist before the skirt opens out wide. The cloth is matte and has body, so the skirt keeps its width instead of dropping flat against the leg. Short sleeves, turned back and held with a buttoned tab, finish it.
It is the black dress that covers a working Tuesday and a late dinner without changing: flat sandals and bare arms in September, boots and a knit over the shoulders when the weather turns.
