Follow the care label on each piece. As a rule: cool wash, reshape and dry flat, keep away from direct heat.
A brown faux suede skirt that pulls straight on, sits high on the waist and opens out to close on twice its own width at the hem.
The cloth is a faux suede: a brushed, matte nap with no shine to it and no pile you can run a hand against, so it reads as soft rather than slick and takes the light in a quiet, even way. At the front the waistband is a wide flat band, shaped rather than straight, dipping to a shallow V at the centre front, and from the point of that V a single seam runs all the way down to the hem. Across the back the same band is fully elasticated and gathered, which is what lets the skirt pull on: there is no zip, no button and no fastening of any kind. From the waist it opens steadily, and measured flat the hem comes out at close on twice the width of the waistband, so it moves properly when you walk and settles into deep soft folds when you stop. The hem is one level line the whole way round. There are no pockets. Wear it with a fine roll neck tucked in and ankle boots, or with a heavy jumper left loose over the top.
The fit
This one comes in a single size. The maker publishes a waist of 60 to 88 cm and a length of 68 cm, and the 60 to 88 is the stretch of the elasticated back: 60 cm is where the band sits at rest and 88 cm is as far as it will go. Read against the body, that covers UK 6 through to UK 16, which is our own reading of the maker's figures rather than a size the maker publishes. The waistband sits high, above the natural waist rather than on it. On length, the maker's own 68 cm is the figure to trust: we measured the skirt again ourselves on its photographs, against the relaxed waistband, and read 72 cm, which is the 68 plus the small stretch a photograph adds to anything hanging towards the camera. Worn high, 68 cm puts the hem a little below the knee. It is not a midi: every midi we carry measures 81 cm or more. The maker's own figures are set out in the size guide next to the size selector.
Details
Faux suede, a brushed matte nap with no shine and no directional pile
Wide flat waistband at the front, shaped to a shallow V at the centre front
Fully elasticated and gathered across the back, so the skirt pulls straight on
One seam down the centre front, no zip, no button, no fastening and no belt loops
No pockets
Full A line flare, the hem measuring close on twice the width of the waistband laid flat
Level hem the whole way round, with no slit and no vent on any of the maker's photographs
One size, the maker giving a waist of 60 to 88 cm and a length of 68 cm
The maker gives the fabric as polyester and publishes no percentages, and none of its photographs shows a composition label, so we pass that fibre on as its own rather than confirming it. Faux suede here describes the finish of the cloth, which we have read off it ourselves, and says nothing about the fibre. It is not leather and we do not sell it as such
The maker does not say whether the skirt is lined, and we can see no lining on its photographs
Cool machine wash inside out and hang to dry, our own recommendation as the maker gives no care instructions
Measurements in cm, full circumference. The maker publishes one size only, with a waist of 60 to 88 cm and a length of 68 cm. The waistband is elasticated across the back, so 60 cm is where it sits at rest and 88 cm is as far as it will stretch. The UK range is our own reading of those figures. Tolerance 2 to 3 cm.
