Cashmere Cardigan with a Knitted Shirt Collar
The Somerby is the cardigan that does the work of a shirt. The collar is knitted with two soft points that lie flat on the shoulder, the button front runs the whole length, and the yarn is wool with cashmere blended through it. Wear it closed as a top, or open over one.
Design and yarn
Knitted at a fine gauge from 70% wool and 30% cashmere, so it stays light on the shoulder and slides under a coat without bulk. The surface carries a faint downy halo and stays matte rather than glossy. Seven small horn-look buttons run from the collar to the hem, and narrow ribbing holds the cuffs and the hem in place.
How it wears
Buttoned with wide trousers it reads as a fine knitted shirt, which is what makes it work on a weekday. Open over a vest or a T-shirt it becomes the light layer you leave on the back of your chair. Racing Green carries a plain outfit on its own; Fawn is the neutral that sits with brown, navy and grey alike; Calico is the soft off-white for the top of the drawer.
Fit
Regular fit, hip length, with a little give in the knit. It sits close enough to wear buttoned on its own and leaves room for a fine top underneath.
