Faux Fur Gilet
A faux fur gilet cut short and square, with a tall funnel neck that stands up on its own. It pulls on over the head, sits at the waist, and does the work of a coat over a fine knit.
The cut
Sleeveless, with the shoulder dropped a little and the armhole cut straight down, so a jumper sleeve slides underneath without bulk. No fastening and no pockets: the front is one unbroken panel of pile, divided into three by two fine seam lines that run from the collar to the hem. The funnel neck opens in a small notch at the centre front and rolls softly away from the throat.
The pile
Dense, short and silky, with a darker tipping at the ends of the hairs that gives the surface depth as it moves. Lined in smooth satin, so it slides over knitwear instead of catching on it.
Wearing it
Over a roll-neck and straight trousers for the walk to work, over a shirt at the weekend. The cropped length keeps the waist in view, which is what stops a fur piece reading heavy.
Fit
One size, cut generously to fit UK 8 to 14. Shoulder 40 cm, front length 60 cm, back length 33 cm, so the hem sits higher at the back than at the front. The full measurements are in the size guide, next to the size selector.
