Knitted Co-ord Set - Polo Neck and Wide Leg | Evenlode

Two pieces, one colour, one price. Evenlode is a knitted co-ord set: a polo neck jumper and a pair of wide leg trousers, knitted in the same yarn and dyed together, so they read as one outfit rather than two things that nearly match.

Design

The jumper is worked in a fine moss stitch, a close grid of small raised loops that holds the light across the body, and finished with a smooth knitted polo collar and a three button placket. The buttons are flat and tonal, so the front stays quiet. The shoulder sits past the shoulder bone, the sleeve is long, and deep ribbed cuffs and a wide ribbed hem hold the shape.

The trousers are the counterpoint. Where the jumper is textured they are plain, a smooth fine knit that falls straight from the hip. They pull on over a deep flat rib waistband, with no zip, no button and no pockets, and the leg runs wide all the way down without narrowing at the ankle. Two textures, one colour, is the whole idea of the set.

Fabric

A soft-touch, viscose-rich knit, light in the hand and fluid rather than bulky. The maker gives the composition as 50% viscose, 22% nylon and 28% polyester, and we publish it as given: no sewn composition label came with the garment for us to check it against. Like most soft knits of this kind it will pill a little where the cloth rubs in the first few weeks, and a fabric comb lifts that off in a minute.

Fit

The jumper is generous at every size: it measures 108 cm around the bust at S and 114 cm at L, so the body sits loose whichever one you take. The trousers are the piece that decides. The waist is a rib that stretches well past its flat measurement, and the leg is cut for roughly 165 to 172 cm. Below that you will want to take up the hem, above it they sit nearer the ankle than the floor. S to L, mapped to UK 8-10 through to UK 14-16.
