Womens knitted trousers for the days you want wool and nothing stiff. Kingham sits high on the waist on a ribbed band, falls easy through the hip and thigh, then draws in to a deep ribbed cuff at the ankle. The yarn is pure merino, so the warmth is real and the weight is not.
Design
A wide ribbed waistband carries a flat knitted drawstring, tied at the front and left loose. Nothing else: no zip, no button, no belt loops. A single slanted pocket sits in each side seam, deep enough for a phone, and the back is left plain. The cuff is the point of these trousers. It holds the hem at the ankle bone and lets the knit blouse softly above it.
Fabric
100% merino wool, knitted fine at twelve gauge. Merino is the fibre that makes wool wearable next to the skin: the filaments are finer than ordinary lambswool, so the cloth comes out light, warm and soft instead of dense and prickly. Being a natural fibre, it will pill a little in the first few weeks where the fabric rubs. That is wool behaving as wool rather than a fault, and a fabric comb lifts it off in a minute.
Fit
High rise, relaxed through hip and thigh, tapered and cuffed at the ankle. S to XL, mapped to UK 6-8 through to UK 12-14. The knit is cut close through the hip, so if you are between sizes, or you want the roomier weekend fit, take the larger one. Full measurements are in the size guide next to the size selector.
