Oversized Jumper - V-Neck Knit and Matching Scarf | Kempsford

An oversized jumper cut wide and square through the body, and the long matching scarf that comes with it, both knitted in the same softly brushed yarn.

Two pieces, one yarn

The jumper is the shape you reach for on a cold morning. A wide open V neck finished with one narrow rib. Shoulders that drop a long way down the arm, so the whole thing sits off the body rather than on it. Deep ribbed cuffs that come over the hands, a deep ribbed hem, and a body that stops just past the hip bone.

The yarn is brushed after knitting, so a fine halo lifts off the surface and softens every stitch without hiding it. It is gently marled: the cream is flecked through with something paler and greyer, and the brown reads deep rather than flat.

The scarf is a separate length of the same knit, long enough to wrap once at the throat and still hang below the hem, wide enough to lie flat across both shoulders and be left open. Nothing is sewn to anything, so it goes with the rest of your wardrobe too.

Fit

Cut properly oversized. The M measures 110 cm all round and the L 116 cm, so it wears loose and boxy from a UK 8 and stays relaxed up to a UK 16. The body is short, 61 to 63 cm, which is what keeps the volume from swamping you: it sits just past the hip bone and works over a high waistband. A brushed knit behaves like one. It sheds a few fibres the first week and picks up a little of whatever it sits against. Shake it out, let it rest flat between wears, and it settles.
