A pea coat in double faced wool, cut oversized
The cloth is the reason to buy this one. It is a wool blend that runs to seventy per cent sheep wool and more, woven double faced, which means there is no lining and no facing: the same brushed surface runs inside and out, and the hem and the cuffs are left as clean cut edges. That is what gives the coat its weight without stiffness, and why the shoulder holds its line rather than collapsing.
The cut is deliberately roomy. Dropped shoulders, wide notch lapels, a double breasted front on four matte tonal buttons, and two deep patch pockets set low at the hip. The hem stops at mid thigh, so it sits well over trousers and over a dress without swallowing either. In Lichen, a greyed sage; Barley, a warm oatmeal; and Graphite, a deep charcoal.
Fit
Cut very generously. The shoulder seams sit well below the shoulder, and there is room for a jumper underneath without going up a size. If you want a closer coat, take the size below. Full measurements are in the size guide next to the size selector.
