Follow the care label on each piece. As a rule: cool wash, reshape and dry flat, keep away from direct heat.
A ribbed midi skirt knitted right through in a fine vertical rib, smooth over the hip and then let out into a full A-line sweep.
The rib does the work here. It runs unbroken from the waistband to the hem, fine and close set, in a soft matte yarn with a faint brushed halo and a quiet oatmeal marl running through it. The knit carries enough weight to hang and swing rather than cling. Because the flare is knitted in rather than pleated or gathered, the skirt stays clean over the hip and only opens out lower down: the hem comes out at about one and a half times the hip, which is where the movement comes from. Wear it with a fine-gauge polo neck tucked in and flat boots, or with a shirt and a cardigan over the top. It is a knitted skirt, which means it is as easy to put on as anything else in the drawer.
The fit
The waistband is one plain flat band of the same fine ribbing, about five centimetres deep, and it is the only piece of construction on the skirt: no drawstring, no cord, no bow, no belt loops, no zip, no button and no hook anywhere. It pulls on. Below the waistband the body is smooth over the hip, then flares evenly to a level hem with no slit and no vent, and there are no pockets. The length reads as a long midi, 82 cm on an XS and 88 cm on an XL measured from the top of the waistband, which puts the hem low on the calf and a little above the ankle bone on most heights. Five sizes, XS to XL, which we read as UK 6 to UK 14. One thing worth knowing before you choose: the maker labels its largest size UK 16 and we do not agree with it. Its own hip measurements climb in even steps that land a size lower than that, its own relaxed waist figures sit within a centimetre or two of the body waist of a UK 6 through to a UK 14, and its own size chart is graded by weight and stops at 62.5 kg. The UK sizes in the size guide next to the size selector are our reading of the garment rather than the maker's.

Sold on its own. The maker photographs the skirt with a matching cardigan; that cardigan is not included and we do not sell it
The maker gives the composition as 79.5 per cent polyester, 12.5 per cent acrylic, 5.5 per cent wool and 2.5 per cent elastane. None of its photographs shows a composition label, so we pass those figures on as its own rather than confirming them
The maker does not say whether the skirt is lined, and none of its photographs shows the inside
Cold gentle wash and dry flat, our own recommendation as the maker gives no care instructions
Measurements in cm. Garment waist and hip are full circumferences measured relaxed and unstretched, and the ribbed waistband stretches well beyond the waist figure shown. To fit waist is a body measurement and our own reading of the garment, not the maker's. Length is from the top of the waistband. Allow 1 to 3 cm.
