Wrap-Front Satin Midi Dress with an Asymmetric Hem
The Grantley is a satin midi dress made for the evenings that start filling the diary in October. A shawl collar that rolls into a deep V, a wrap front, three-quarter sleeves, and a hem that sits at mid calf in front then sweeps low behind you.
Design and fabric
The satin is the point. It is a smooth satin-faced weave with a soft liquid sheen, so light travels along each fold instead of sitting flat on the surface. The collar stands behind the neck and rolls down both sides in one unbroken curve to form the V. Below it the two bodice panels cross over and meet a plain waist seam, and the skirt gathers softly over one hip. It is close through the bust, waist and hip, then releases below the knee into the asymmetric hem.
How it wears
Flat shoes and a long coat make it a Thursday dress. A heel and one good earring make it a December one. Merlot is the deep wine that carries the party season, Pearl the clean bright white for a wedding or a christening, Petal Pink the palest blush, and Black the one that will get worn the most.
Fit
Close-fitting and cut to follow the body, with a little give from the elastane in the weave. If you are between sizes, or you would like more room through the bust, take the larger size. Measurements for every size are in the Size guide, next to the size selector.
