The silk layer that goes under everything
A silk cami knitted in a fine vertical rib, cut close to the body, with a wide V neckline edged in scalloped floral lace at the front and again across the back. The straps are spaghetti thin and adjustable, so the V sits where you put it. Worn on its own in summer, and under a blazer or a cardigan for the rest of the year.
Design
The rib is narrow and even, which is what keeps a strappy top from reading as underwear. The lace follows the whole neckline and is stitched flat, so it lies quietly beneath a jacket. The hem is finished with a soft lettuce edge rather than a flat band, and each strap runs through a slim slider at the back.
Fabric
Seventy per cent natural silk and thirty per cent cotton, knitted rather than woven. The silk gives it the dry, cool handle and the low lustre that no synthetic imitates; the cotton is what makes it easy to live with. The lace is a separate trim and sits outside that composition.
Fit
Close, with a lot of give. One size, given by the maker as fitting a bust of 75 to 95 cm, roughly UK 6 to UK 14, with a 55 cm body length that falls at the high hip on most heights. The measurements are in the size guide, next to the size selector.
