Follow the care label on each piece. As a rule: cool wash, reshape and dry flat, keep away from direct heat.
A belt this narrow reads as a line rather than a statement. At 1.45 cm it draws a waist on a knitted cardigan or a loose dress without breaking the outline, and the long gold buckle lies flat enough to sit under a coat.
The cut
One even strap, a shade under 1.5 cm across, topstitched close to both long edges in a matching thread. The long edges are rounded, painted and burnished, so they catch the light in a thin line rather than showing a raw cut. The buckle is an elongated oblong that lies lengthwise along the strap rather than across it, in a bright polished gold, with a fine collar of three parallel bands wrapped around each rounded end and a slim pin at the lower one. The strap end folds back around the buckle and is held there by the upper collar. The adjustment holes are punched bare, with no metal eyelets to wear at the leather, and the tail finishes in a softly rounded tip.
The leather
The maker lists the strap as cow leather and the buckle as a zinc alloy, and we quote that as given: there is no composition label on the belt itself, so this is the maker's description rather than a tested figure. The surface is smooth and finely grained, with a satin sheen rather than a gloss, and the strap arrives firm rather than soft, which is what a strap this narrow should do.
Getting the length right
This belt is sized by the length of the strap, not by a dress size. Measure round the place you actually want it to sit, over the clothes you will wear it with, then take the length whose waist range covers that figure. The full table sits in the size guide next to the size selector.
Fit
Three lengths: 95 cm, 100 cm and 105 cm, measured from the buckle to the tip of the strap.
Our guidance: 95 cm for a 65 to 75 cm waist, 100 cm for 75 to 85 cm, 105 cm for 85 to 95 cm. The maker publishes the strap lengths only, so these ranges are ours rather than theirs.
In inches, roughly 26 to 29, 29 to 33 and 33 to 37.
Take the length that leaves you a short tail. On a strap this fine a long tail is the one thing that spoils the line.
